Transcript

I'm Rhett.

And I'm Link.

And you know what we're going to do?

We're going to do the complete interview.

Not auto, just complete.

[upbeat music]

This is from Def2Humans.

Why is it Rhett & Link, not Link & Rhett?

Good question!

This is the best question!

What a coincidence.

We are pleased to announce that it

is becoming Link & Rhett for the rest of our career.

And what did that just make you think?

Is it a man named Lincoln Rhett?

That's the reason.

Rhett's always told me that that was the reason,

but the byproduct is he got to be first.

So I'm like, Lincoln Rhett?

Yeah, it does kind of sound like a person.

It's also alphabetical, reverse alphabetical.

What are your assumptions about Rhett & Link?

Fan assumption.

And then canceroustatoo replied,

Rhett knows Link's birthday off the top of his head.

Link does not have Rhett's birthday memorized.

[Rhett laughing]

[Link laughing]

Okay, What?

What's my birthday?

The year included. It's the day

you were born, it's a great day.

What's the year?

What year?

[Link laughing]

Oh God [chuckling]

October 11th, 1977.

Come on!

Oh, wow, okay, that was quick.

I had doubts about the year

because we have a different year.

When's my birthday? June 1st, 1978.

Uh-huh. But the thing is,

is that we're basically the same age

and I thought maybe you would just forget

that the year was different because of how years work.

Well, that is also an assumption.

So they were wrong. I know.

What do you mean how years work?

I don't know how your brain works.

They work sequentially.

Boyo9000.

What do Rhett & Link think about fans

approaching them in public?

[Link sighing]

There's a reason why I'm wearing a hat

and sunglasses and a band-

I wear a bandana.

Yeah, I looked at you. And I'm talking

about in the airport.

[Link laughing]

Yeah, he's like the lone ranger up in there.

And then everybody's trying

to get pictures with the long ranger.

The long ranger.

[Rhett laughing] Is that what I just said?

You did. I said the long ranger.

You did. That's my name.

That's good. That's my airport name.

No, I think it's really cool to be recognized by people.

The thing I love about what we do

is that everybody who recognizes us

is happy to see us.

A lot of people can't say that.

Hey, look, it's fine by me.

I don't dress up like the lone ranger.

This is from?

Jsmhndrsn? Jsmhndrsn?

Has Link addressed how crazy viral this picture is?

I have not addressed the when the fajitas

come out sizzling.

We were reading all the things you needed

to put in a dance in order to attract someone.

I don't believe that fajitas had anything to do

with that moment in time.

No. Of course,

that's my old haircut.

Now, in this picture, Rhett, who's not pictured,

of the millions and millions of views

that this meme got where I am featured,

there's no Rhett to be seen.

But I am directing you. But Rhett is directing me.

I am directing you.

He is off camera.

He is here, he is in your position.

I'm telling you what to do.

Well, you didn't say, Come on, you know,

when the fajitas come out sizzling,

you didn't say that.

Now, you may know more than I do,

but it seems to me that the picture itself

got traction and then it was attached

to the fajitas come out sizzling.

I don't even know what the fajitas

coming out sizzling part is about.

Oh, you know how they come out with the steam.

I know, I know what it-

It makes you wanna dance.

It makes you feel good. I know that, but like -

Not to burst that bubble,

but they just squirt some stuff on it.

They just- Water.

They just squirt a little water on there.

They do. It's not even really

that big of a deal.

In fact, it's probably worse because of that.

They're watering down your fajitas

just so they come out sizzling.

Yeah. No_Woodpecker497 asks,

Rhett and Link's dogs are exactly what I expected.

Every time our dogs appear on the show,

whether it's Sean or Barbara,

how much I look like my dogs.

Yeah. I think they're just like

a man who has a lot of hair on his face,

must be a dog, must look like a dog.

I don't, I can't look like both of those dogs.

Don't sell yourself short.

You look exactly like Sean.

Sean? [Link laughing]

I can't make my, I cannot look-

Please put up a split screen with him and Sean.

I cannot look at two-

My visual field does not have the degree

of separation that Sean does.

His two eyeballs are like.

It's like, have you ever watched two different

televisions at once?

That's his life.

I wish.

Next question.

What's our critical lore?

Most online communities, there is a specific bit of lore

that once you learn about it, you are officially

in too deep and you can no longer reverse

the massive psychic damage you

have inflicted on yourself.

In this corner of online, it's knowing about.

Some more recent lore includes

Rhett hates community college

and I have a pregnancy fetish.

Okay, which one of those things is not true?

Neither one of those is true.

[chuckling] I'm telling you.

Community college is very respectable.

I made one comment. That's why a lot

of people go and work things out.

About poking the, satisfying feeling

of poking a pregnant woman's belly.

Okay, I think that's all we needed to hear.

And then... There's something

wrong with it. It got turned into something

that was just like creepy.

I don't understand.

What happened?

No, it didn't get turned into something creepy.

I've seen you interact with pregnant women.

No, why did I bring this up?

And it's...

There is no fetish. No, I'll say...

I've never seen him poke without asking,

but I've seen him ask a lot.

But you're not doing it anymore.

I don't do it anymore. One of the things

that's been happening at Mythical

because we've had this company for a while

and we've had people working for us

for a while is that we have a-

A lot of people are getting pregnant.

A lot of pregnant people.

Recently, we had a baby that was born

to two people who met at Mythical,

and I believe that baby has to work for us.

And I believe it's okay for that child to work for us.

I think the child labor laws allow

for a child to work for you

if it was born from two of your employees.

Next question.

Dazzaa533.

Have Rhett and Link ever guessed

the pet name correctly on Ready, Pet, Go?

No, that's why we stopped doing that segment.

[Link laughing]

So fans will submit pictures of their pets

and we would guess the name.

Very confident.

Turns out it's impossible.

Turns out you can't guess a pet's name

without being given the pet's name at the time.

Well, but I mean, because what we didn't think

about was just how many pets names that the pet isn't.

There are no rules for naming pets.

This is one of the reasons I named my pets

Sean and Barbara, because I was like,

We don't need to get into animal names.

Because at that point it just feels like

there are no standards.

Like my dogs could apply to vote,

maybe get a license, and so could yours.

Jasper, that's a real name.

Jasper. Jade, that's a real name.

But like Honeydew, that dog's never going to drive.

This is just posted on the subreddit.

They have deleted their username.

Oh, okay. So they're ashamed of this.

After watching Rhett & Link for over seven years,

did I just miss something?

Oh, this says I Love Butt Drugs.

Well, yeah, you did miss something

because Butt Drugs was a pharmacy in Cordon, Indiana.

We made a commercial for Butt Drugs back

when that was something that we did

and make commercials for small businesses.

♪ B-B-B-Butt Drugs ♪

♪ B-B-B-Butt Drugs ♪

♪ B-B-B-Butt Drugs ♪

That's the jingle, pretty catchy.

And I Love Butt Drugs is the bumper sticker

that they sold and we put it up in our office.

Yeah. It was actually my garage

at the time. Free parking in the rear.

That was their joke.

They embraced their name.

Yeah. And then we made

a commercial for them

and then they went out of business

and those things are not related.

Nope.

kwist799.

Why is Link called Link?

Come on now, you don't know that?

Post college, I went into a niche field of chain making.

And as with everyone who goes

into the chain assembly profession,

or more of a hobby for me,

you need to have a nickname.

And can you believe it?

Link wasn't taken.

Yeah, it's weird. Yeah.

And it's weird how they called you

that when you were a kid as well.

Yep, my name's Charles Lincoln Neal III.

My granddad went by Lincoln.

My dad goes by Charles,

but we could all have gone by any the names

because we all have them all.

411connor, favorite times

where Rhett and/or Link are laughing the hardest.

I laugh really hard when I hit you in the face

with that bag of dog poo,

but you didn't laugh at all.

It wasn't funny.

Anyone know the signification of Link's tattoo?

That means you're special in Elvish

from Lord of the Rings.

'Cause I am, I think.

And he has that same tattoo.

His daughter, Lily, has the same tattoo.

First tattoo for both of you.

Well, other than your wife's name on your ass, which...

rlykhj says, Do they eat the food on the show fully?

Well, I give it everything I got, yeah.

He does, yes.

I do not, I never eat anything fully.

You think we're like spitting it out or something?

What do you mean?

No, like I'm- Yes, I am.

I can't eat every single thing

that's put in front of me.

You've watched the show.

But he does. You don't see it-

We don't eat like a whole pie when they sit,

put a pie in front of us.

But sometimes he does.

We do that when the cameras are off.

beans129, why do Rhett & Link always say not a sponsor?

Is it a running joke or a requirement?

[Rhett chuckling]

It is not a requirement,

but we do wanna thank our sponsor

for today's episode, Wired.

Oh, that's nice. Who isn't paying us

to be here, so not a sponsor.

Not a sponsor.

I mean, we have enough sponsors

that if we aren't getting paid,

I want you to know it, so we made that up.

Honestly, that's exactly why.

The first episode of Good Mythical Morning,

if you go back and watch it,

we have a sponsor who paid us $300.

I think they got their money's worth.

Yeah, I think they did too.

This is how we're ending.

Put that away.

Those are like the best questions I've ever heard.

Maybe the best questions on the internet.

Yeah, I mean, I've heard really goo questions IRL,

but like... Yeah, some really good ones

in my life. That was, I mean,

that was something for me.

I hope it was something for you.

Thanks for having us for the complete interview.

And thank you for making us a part

of your daily routine on YouTube and now on Netflix.
