3 Noise-Cancelling Headphones Tested and Rated
Released on 06/14/2012
Cities are (bleep) loud.
You need some noise-cancelling headphones.
These headphones are new from AKG.
To turn on the noise-cancelling,
you just twist the ear cup.
And when you turn it on,
all of the noise around you just stops.
Seriously, this is some of the best noise-cancelling
I've ever heard in a headphone.
They sound pretty good too for music.
They're really clear and punchy.
They're not really that comfortable
because they're on the ear instead of over the ear.
So there's more comfortable headphones out there.
Also, they're not wireless.
There's a cable that plugs into your smartphone.
They're about $350
which is about right for a good pair
of noise-cancelling headphones.
It's still pretty expensive.
If you want a pair of noise-cancelling headphones
but you don't want to spend hundreds of dollars,
check these out.
They're new from Rocketfish.
They're about $60 to $80 depending on
where you buy them online.
And because they're budget headphones,
there's a lot of corners being cut here.
They're made mostly of plastic.
They don't sound fantastic,
although, they sound pretty good for the price.
The noise-cancelling is a little bit noisy.
There's a lot of hiss,
kind of low-frequency rumble going on,
and it gunks up your music a little bit too much
for my tastes.
But they're cheap, so it's kind of tough to go wrong.
These are some new wireless headphones from Sennheiser.
They're very small and compact,
so they fold up really easily for travel.
They're really comfortable on the head,
and they're easy to control
because all the controls are on one ear cup.
They sound the best of all the headphones that I tried,
and that's because the noise cancelling is really gentle.
They don't block out all the noise around you,
maybe only about 80% to 90%,
but I like that because I'm kind of a purist,
and these are definitely headphones made for audio files.
They're priced for audio files too
because they're about $500.
