[Narrator] ICE agents are at the Winter Olympics,
whether Italy wants them or not.

authorities in Italy are trying
to dampen public outcry over reports that US Immigration
and Customs Enforcement will be present at the games
just as its agents so chaos and violence
and debts in the us.
The US Department of Homeland Security has confirmed
that ICE would accompany a US delegation
to the Winter Olympics,
working as part of a State Department team
to mitigate risks from transnational criminal organizations.

for the games and stressed ICE would not be involved
in immigration enforcement
and that Italian authorities would still be in
charge of security.
But even if this means ICE agents and suits
and ties in control rooms rather than masks
and tactical gear on the streets,
Italians still aren't thrilled by the idea.
Milan's Mayor, Giuseppe Sala has told local radio
that agents are not welcome.
While over the weekend, hundreds gathered in Central Milan
to protest, so that's why.
