As someone who’s tested dozens of laptops this year already, I still find myself recommending the MacBook Air M5 more than any other. It’s the most well-rounded laptop you can buy, sporting great performance, long battery life, and a razor-thin chassis. The price has gone up considerably over the past year, but that’s true of many of the best laptops. And now, it's at its lowest price since June, making it an absolute must-buy. —Luke Larsen

Despite all of Apple’s attempts to expand the iPad line, the most compelling reason to buy an iPad continues to be its original use case: casually leaning back on the couch with a book, game, or movie. It’s the device you bring with you on vacation to keep yourself from working. It’s the tablet every family with kids has. And even better: The 11-inch iPad on Amazon is one of the only iPad deals that survived Apple’s price hikes earlier this year. —Luke Larsen

Apple

MacBook Neo

It might be the most controversial laptop of the year, but its appeal is undeniable. From the outside, it’s as premium as any other MacBook. And if you’re someone with relatively basic computing needs, you might not notice the 8 GB of memory and iPhone chip inside and just enjoy the lower price. Just don’t think too much about how the MacBook Air with twice the storage and RAM was frequently selling for only $50 more throughout last year. This $10 discount is nothing new; it’s the cheapest way to buy a MacBook Neo (outside of Apple’s education discount). —Luke Larsen

Apple

Mac Mini (M6)

The Mac Mini has been sold out for the majority of this year due to the rapid escalation of interest in using them as local, agentic AI machines. The brand-new M6 model is faster (and more expensive) than ever. But the fact that you can buy them at all right now feels significant, and Amazon has the best deal on the latest model you’ll find. —Luke Larsen

While almost all of Amazon's Kindles are on sale, the Colorsoft is one of the best. While it was also hit with a price hike at the end of August, with the base model rising to $290 from $250, you can get it for $100 off during Amazon's sale. It has everything we like about the Paperwhite, but with a color screen (and now with Dark Mode, which it originally lacked!). For only $20 more during Amazon Big Deal Days, I'd get the Colorsoft over the Paperwhite. —Nena Farrell

If you're looking to get the biggest discount on a new Kindle, the best sale is on the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft. It's got an 11-inch color screen and comes with a stylus to let it double as a digital notebook. It's the most expensive Kindle, but it also has the best discount during Amazon's sale event. —Nena Farrell

Amazon

Kindle Scribe (3rd Generation)

If you want a powerful new digital notebook that doubles as an e-reader, Kindle Scribe is one of my favorites. The newest version is good, and my main complaint is usually that you can get the second-gen model with almost all the same features for a better price. However, the third-gen Scribe is now on sale for under the cost of the older model, so it's a great time to buy. And the Scribes didn't rise in price, so no sale games with this model. —Nena Farrell

Kindle Paperwhite Kids (2024, 12th Generation)

These sale events are a great time to stock up on gifts for the family, and if you have a young reader in yours, the Kindle Paperwhite Kids is a great choice. It has everything we already like about the Paperwhite (our top Kindle pick!), a fun cover to protect it from drops, and six months of free Kids+ content. Kids+ will offer your young reader free, age-appropriate content to read on their brand-new Kindle—it's like Kindle Unlimited, but for kids. —Nena Farrell

Kindle Colorsoft Kids

Once again, the best Kindle deals are on the color models. Kids are naturally the best candidates to enjoy the color screen since they're more likely to select books with illustrations. The Colorsoft Kids is almost $100 off and comes with both a case and a full year of Kids+ content. This makes it a worthy upgrade from the Kids Paperwhite while it's on sale. —Nena Farrell

Amazon

Kindle Paperwhite and Paperwhite Signature Edition (2024, 12th Generation)

If you're getting a new Kindle, the Paperwhite is an excellent all-around choice with its adjustable warm front light and long battery life. The bad news is that this sale is the worst we've seen, but unfortunately, since Amazon raised prices for the Paperwhite (among other Kindle models), I don't expect to see a lower price in the future anymore. It's better than paying full price, and I'd only get it on sale. —Nena Farrell

Upgrade Your TV Audio With This Soundbar Subwoofer Combo
Polk Audio Signa S4 Soundbar
Photograph: Polk Audio

This soundbar plus subwoofer is a fantastic way to upgrade your TV audio system for a reasonable price, especially at 25 percent off. The Polk Signa S4 is one of our favorite soundbars for that very reason: It’s simple, easy to use, sounds great, and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Sure, it doesn’t have more advanced features like Wi-Fi connectivity, voice assistant support, or multi-speaker surround sound. But if you’re coming from built-in TV speakers, this is a great first upgrade. —Harry Rabinowitz

Sonos

Arc Ultra

I’ve seen this same sale a few times this year, but it’s still worth taking a look at, simply because the Sonos Arc Ultra is such a great soundbar. It’s the best all-in-one solution, delivering rich, clean sound for shows, movies, games, and music. Sonos

Beam (Gen 2)

Sonos recently launched the Sonos Beam Ultra, so it’s no wonder that the 2021 Beam is on sale right now. While it can’t compare with Sonos’ newer models, it doesn’t really have to at this great price point. I used the Sonos Beam Gen 2 for years as my main soundbar. It’s incredibly small and compact but manages excellent sound, especially when paired with a small space and small-ish TV. —Harry Rabinowitz

It’s a tri-band system that performs extremely well in a busy family home, delivering impressively low lag and stable bandwidth sharing across many devices. The Smart Calendar to Buy

My favorite digital wall calendar is from Skylight. It's easy to use to connect your events, organize meals and to-do lists, and even plug in entire recipes to convert to your shopping list. It operates on both 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands and features sturdy, heavy construction that stood up well to squirrel chewing in my testing. Without the $54/year subscription, you'll get 20 uses of AI ID per month, but be forewarned this feature isn’t great, and you also won’t be able to search past videos by bird, as free storage is capped at three days’ worth. —Kat Merck

The Lowest Price We've Seen on the Echo Show 11

Amazon

Echo Show 11

Amazon launched two new Echo Show smart displays last year, and the Echo Show 11 was easily the better of the two. The sound is better, and the screen is larger—but not so large that it's a pain to put on a kitchen counter. Amazon did raise the price by $30 at the end of August, but this is still the lowest deal price I've seen for it since its launch. —Nena Farrell

Amazon

Echo Spot (2024)

I really like the Echo Spot. It's got a small screen that displays the time, information like the weather, and what song it's currently playing, but leaves out the camera, ads, and other screen clutter you'll get on an Echo Show. It doesn't have the best sound out of Amazon's smaller Echo models, but it's fine for casual listening. The price did rise from $80 to $110 in August, but $55 for this is still a good sale price. —Nena Farrell

Amazon

Echo Dot (5th Gen)

Amazon's smallest speaker is its most affordable, but the price hikes the company rolled out in late August moved it from being a $50 speaker to an $80 speaker. It's definitely not worth that, but it's a good speaker and a fine purchase for $40. It has clearly improved sound over the older models like the puck-shaped Echo Dot, but I am bummed with how much the price has increased. I'd only buy it now while it's on sale. —Nena Farrell

A Great Deal on Our Favorite Echo Speaker

Amazon

Echo Studio (2nd Gen)

The Echo Studio has been our favorite Echo speaker for the sound quality since the original model, and the second-generation version packs fantastic sound like its predecessor. I also love that its price didn't increase between the two generations, or after Amazon's price hike in August. It's still one of the more expensive models, even on sale, so I'd choose it only if you have a massive room you're trying to fill with sound. But it's also the only new Echo that didn't get a price increase, so this sale isn't just a trick of the numbers. —Nena Farrell

Amazon

Echo Dot Max

The Echo Dot Max takes the once-cheap Echo Dot model and gives it better sound and a built-in smart home hub, but amps up the price to match. It has much better sound than Amazon's previous pint-sized speakers, but it's still a big price to pay for something that doesn't have a screen. The price also went up $20 at the end of August, so you could argue this is really only $20 off. I do really like this speaker, but you'd be just as happy with the cheaper Echo Spot and older Echo Dot if you're just looking for a small smart speaker. —Nena Farrell

Amazon

Echo Show 8 (4th Gen)

Amazon updated my usual favorite Echo Show last year, but the sound on the fourth-generation Echo Show 8 isn't quite as good as the older model. To be honest, I'd recommend the older model over this one, but this discount is still pretty good (even with the price increase that brought it up to $200 flat at the end of August). —Nena Farrell

When it comes to monitors, all most people need is something reliable, comfortable to use, and not horrifically ugly. That’s underselling the Dell S2725HSM, despite its price. It’s a basic 1080p resolution, but it has really solid image quality, and it even comes with a 144-Hz refresh rate. All those features are heightened when it’s on sale for just $130, too. Microsoft

Surface Laptop 13.8-inch (7th Edition)

My love for this laptop, which is both beautiful and full of useful features, has been deterred by its price increases this year. Fortunately, on big sales days, the Surface Laptop 13.8-inch tends to drop to more palatable prices—closer to where they were last year. My favorite feature of this laptop is its 3:2 aspect ratio screen, which is taller than a standard display and a size I very much prefer. There’s a newer model out with the Snapdragon X2 chip, though the price is hard to swallow for the marginal step up in performance. —Luke Larsen

Asus

Zenbook A14

This is one of the few laptops that have steadily dropped in price over the past six months while all other prices keep rising. The Zenbook A14’s calling card is its extreme lightness, weighing just 2.16 pounds. That’s over a half-pound lighter than the MacBook Air. On top of that, it features an OLED screen and chassis uses a unique textured material that I’ve grown to like. There’s a newer version of the A14 out there, featuring a Snapdragon X2 chip, but it’s usually over $500 more expensive. That’s not worth it.—Luke Larsen

Five dollars off this laptop stand won’t blow your mind, but I promise you won’t regret your purchase. There are certainly prettier laptop stands out there, such as the one I use every day, the Native Union Laptop Stand. But it’s four times the price. And in terms of functionality, it shares a lot in common with the Amazon Basics model. Connect USB-C 11-in-1 Pro GaN Dock

USB hubs and docking stations are always bigger than most people expect, especially when you include the power brick. But not the Belkin Connect Pro, which uses GaN technology to shrink down the power supply to fit into the device itself. No more massive power bricks cluttering up your desk or precariously dangling off the edge of your standing desk. It drops to this price fairly often, but it’s still better to buy it now than at full price. —Luke Larsen

Bose

Ultra Open Earbuds

Bose recently launched a new version of these earbuds, hence these 2024 originals being deeply discounted, matching the lowest price I’ve ever seen. They’re my top pick for premium, comfortable, great-sounding open earbuds—their only downside was price, but 33 percent off solves this problem. Despite years of newer options, I still occasionally grab these for a quick run or bike ride. —Harry Rabinowitz

Bose

QuietComfort Headphones (1st Gen)

Bose is starting to phase out these QuietComfort Headphones in favor of the 2nd Gen version, so this might be the last time to grab a pair at such a low price. Despite their age, they are still some of the most comfortable over-ear headphones you can get, with a lightweight design and physical button controls on each ear. Sure, they’ve been surpassed by newer models, but at this price, these are a steal. —Harry Rabinowitz

My all-time favorite robot vacuum is often on sale, but this is the lowest the price it ever goes (and used to only go as low as $800, so don't miss it!) The Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal uses a UV light to spot stains and spills on your floor and will go back to scrub them away after doing its regular clean. It's the smartest one I've tried in 2026 by a long shot, and little announcements from the base station make it easy to know when the vacuum is just cleaning versus handling stains. —Nena Farrell

I'd usually say you shouldn't spend a full grand on a robot vacuum during a sale event, but if you've been wanting a robot vacuum that can also pick up small items, the Roborock Saros Z70 with its robot arm is on sale right now. We didn't love it when we tested it last year, but hopefully the OmniGrip has improved in the last year. It's been on sale usually for $1700 the last few months, and $1000 is as low as we've seen it go. —Nena Farrell

I usually see a lot of Dyson vacuums on sale during events like these, and the slightly older Dyson V15 is often one of them. Now that there are newer models, the V15's sale price is just under $600, and it's a good price for a Dyson vacuum that comes with both a hard floor and all-floor cleaner head, plus a crevice tool. There's an LCD screen too, which you won't find on Dyson's new, more affordable models. —Nena Farrell

An affordable OLED TV is rare, but this newly launched model from Sony is an exception during this sale. Eco 3 Compact Kitchen Food Recycler

If you’re looking to cut down on food waste but don’t want to deal with smelly compost containers and mess, FoodCycler 3 is one of my top picks for this purpose. Put your peels, cores, and wilted herbs into the included 3.5-liter countertop bucket; when it’s full, seat it right in the machine, which will then grind and dry your scraps to a fine powder. Field Company

Cast Iron Skillet

WIRED operations manager and cast-iron pan enthusiast Scott Gilbertson thinks Field Company makes the best-looking cast iron skillet out there. Field’s vintage-inspired models are more lightweight than other cast iron, and thus much easier to maneuver—in contrast, I’m afraid I’m going to break something every time I haul my massive, 15-inch Lodge out of the cupboard to make a stir-fry. Scott tested the 8 and the 10, and found them to be so well seasoned that he hasn’t had to reseason them in the year he used them. —Kat Merck

Nonstick Induction Frying Pan With Lid, 12-Inch

Hot take: A good nonstick pan has its place. Not for high-temperature cooking, mind you, but if you've ever tried to get eggs or fish just right, you know what I'm talking about. You can certainly use cast iron, but it’s harder to maintain, and while many people love ceramic, it became “sticky” pretty quickly for me. This is the pan that I use the most for the above purposes, and it works on every kind of stove, including induction. —Kat Merck

Pro Stainless Steel Bread Machine

My parents bought this bread machine years ago because it was one of the only models with a ceramic pan and no suspicious nonstick coatings. They handed it down to me, and I still have it. It works flawlessly, turning out ball-shaped 1-, 1.5-, or 2-lb. loaves. It doesn’t have as much versatility as higher-end machines like the Zojirushi Virtuoso, which does a better job with specialty breads, but if you’re interested in making your own basic, preservative-free loaves without having to mess with starters, kneading, and all-day rising schedules, this machine is the best value out there. —Kat Merck

3.5 Qt Hand Stand Mixer

Is this thing kind of gimmicky? Sure. Is it the same as a real stand mixer? Absolutely not. But it is one of the most useful appliances in my kitchen for a reason you might not expect: shredding chicken. It’s basically a hand mixer that clips into a covered bowl set in a base with suction cups. While mixing, the bowl turns around in the base while the contents stay contained. Note that it takes a lot of mixing to get everything incorporated, so sometimes I just take the lid off and use it like a normal hand mixer. —Kat Merck
