Summer Reading Season may be a completely contrived tradition, one cooked up by a battered publishing industry struggling to steal eyes from the TV and YouPorn, but I'm all about it. And this year, I'm trying something different: Instead of chewing through novels, I'm going to focus on quick-hits from services like Amazon's Kindle Singles program and The Atavist. I think these microreads could be the perfect summer format; you can find a story, buy it, and read the whole thing before your pitcher of margaritas is empty.
So here's what I'm going to do: I'm going spend the month of June reading nothing but shorties. Each Friday, I'll check in with some appropriately short reviews, and at the end of the month, I'll post a list of must-reads; that way, you can have a full reader in time for the July 4th holiday weekend.
