Wave Cash App’s Magic Wand To Pay For Stuff
Released on 06/04/2026
[Narrator] Have you ever wanted to wave a magic wand
at something and make it yours?
Well, now you can,
so long as you have enough money in your debit account
to pay for it.
This is the Cash App Wand,
a whimsical way for the company
to introduce its Cash App Tags,
a new way of paying for stuff out in the physical world.
The wand syncs to your Cash App account
with an NFC connection,
putting your card's information on the wand.
Then it works like a debit card
where you can use the wand to pay
for stuff anywhere you would use your phone
or card to tap to pay.
It doesn't need Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to connect,
and there's no battery to charge.
You can use the Cash App Wand to buy coffee, Taco Bell,
or even pay your fare on the train.
It's supposed to be a fun way to buy things
and start conversation.
Credit card wands have also become a trend
on social video sites
with people putting their cards in their own homemade
or 3D printed wands.
Cash App says it's been working on this idea
for a while, though, and wasn't influenced by that trend.
These wands are a limited run,
and Cash App says it will be putting more tags
in things like clothing and jewelry later this year.
This is also a weird time to be whimsical for Cash App.
In February, Jack Dorsey,
the CEO of parent company, Block,
laid off 40% of its workforce,
leading to a company culture workers have called
demoralizing and anxiety-inducing.
Still, the Cash App Wand is here,
it costs $25 and Block is really hoping Gen Z loves it.
Who knows?
Maybe the TV behind me at Taco Bell is right,
and buying a bunch of coffee
and junk food with a magic wand is
just one way to stay loose.
