[Narrator] A proposed multi-billion dollar resort

on the Mediterranean coast backed by Ivanka Trump

and her husband, Jared Kushner,

has become the focal point

of a mass uprising.

For weeks, people in Albania

have been protesting daily

against the planned development

in this Zvernec area over the privatization

of coastal land and the potential damage it could do

to the region's protected coastal wildlife.

Protests this week saw hundreds of thousands

take to the streets of the capital, Tirana,

while there have also been solidarity demonstrations

organized in diaspora communities elsewhere in Europe,

such as Germany, the UK, Switzerland, and Greece.

Demonstrators in the so-called

Flamingo Revolution,

named for one of the species

that inhabits the wetland ecosystem

where the development is situated,

say Albania is not for sale.

They vowed to keep going

until Albania's Prime Minister, Edi Rama, resigns

and legislation they say has enabled unchecked

investment is repealed.
