Gallery: Wildest Exploitation Movies, as Picked by You
012000maniacs
'Tis the season to be gory, as modern exploitation movies like the remade [I Spit on Your Grave](http://www.ispitonyourgravemovie.com/) and the unrated *[Hatchet II](http://www.hatchet2.com/)* hit the cineplex during the annual run-up to Halloween mayhem. Honoring the genre last month, Wired.com rounded up our favorite classic B movies and invited readers to reveal their favorites. The result? An avalanche of more than 100 titles, ranging from obscure goof-fests like [Evil Bong](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evil_Bong) and [Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead](http://www.poultrygeistmovie.com/) to genre classics The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Blacula and Night of the Living Dead. Here's a sampling of the freakiest exploitation films ever, as picked by you. __Above:__ Two Thousand Maniacs! --------------------- The best exploitation flick of all time, without a doubt, has to be [Two Thousand Maniacs!](wikipedia 2000 Maniacs), directed by the great Herschell Gordon Lewis, the "Godfather of Gore." *—fstrjon* I can remember my mom taking me to see *Two Thousand Maniacs!* I have only seen it one time, so I'd love to see it again. *—jamesallan*
02blacula
Blacula ------- [Blacula](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blacula) is easily the best exploitation flick of all time. *—jkershen* I have to vote for *Blacula*. So bad it's bad. I get a laugh just looking at the movie poster. Blacula looks like he's trying to be one of the Clones of Dr. Funkenstein. *—firstfret* Another vote for Blacula! Ghetto cinema at its *finest*! *—leandrew* Blacula is off the hook. *—Cokeman*
03death-race
Death Race 2000 --------------- [Death Race 2000](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_Race_2000), the 1975 original, is my favorite cult classic. It has David Carradine and young Sylvester Stallone, there is gratuitous violence and some nudity and '70s-style political stuff about sticking it up to the man. *—JJKM* I love Coffy but I think I have to go with Death Race 2000. *—impetus* Shout-out to my favorite movie, Death Race 2000! *—erick7071* Absolutely the best: Death Race 2000. *—Dr\_Strangelove*
04bloodsuckingfreaks
Bloodsucking Freaks ------------------- I would have to throw into the mix Bloodsucking Freaks and Street Trash. *—Trotsky*
05evilbong
Evil Bong --------- I gotta go with Evil Bong — it has a special cameo by the Gingerdead Man! *—DrLumberjack*
06they-came-within
They Came From Within --------------------- They Came From Within (aka Shivers). Early, uber-icky Cronenberg. *—reneet*
07abby
Abby ---- Abby — the best blaxploitation *Exorcist* knock-off ever made. Plus, it features William "Blacula" Marshall! *—T\_Lawson*
08house-of-1000-corpses
House of 1000 Corpses --------------------- *House of 1000 Corpses* has a weak third act but a good film nonetheless. *—mjk*
09big-bad-mama
Big Bad Mama ------------ I always thought Big Bad Mama with Angie Dickinson, William Shatner and Tom Skerritt was fabulous. Momma and the movie were both "bad!" *—LasVegasRocks* The first exploitation film has to be Big Bad Mama. Was only 10 or 11 at the time and to watch with dad at the drive-in was awesome! *—marqueja*
10black-dynamite
Black Dynamite -------------- I'd have to go with Black Dynamite. *—skalobster11* *[Black Dynamite](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Dynamite)*, baby! *—kurosawafan* Man there are some choice cuts there. I have to say Black Dynamite was an amazing throwback to some great flicks. *—Cokeman* Now you jive turkeys, Black Dynamite is the best movie on this list, can you dig it? *—vaughn91* What about some of the more recent blaxsploitation comedies like Black Dynamite, Undercover Brother, Jackie Brown (not a comedy) or even [The Hebrew Hammer](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0317640/)? *—orbit*
11bucket-blood
A Bucket of Blood ----------------- My favorite would have to be [A Bucket of Blood](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Bucket_of_Blood) starring Dick Miller. The absurd nature of this dark comedy is truly inspired, and paved the way for many exploitation films to come. *—camycam518*
12bucket-blood
A Bucket of Blood ----------------- My favorite would have to be [A Bucket of Blood](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Bucket_of_Blood) starring Dick Miller. The absurd nature of this dark comedy is truly inspired, and paved the way for many exploitation films to come. *—camycam518*
13humanoids
Humanoids From the Deep ----------------------- For cheap exploitation, I have to go with [Humanoids From the Deep](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humanoids_from_the_Deep). Low-budget but lots of cheesy goodness, and they even "borrowed" the exploding tummy gimmick from *Alien*, released the previous year. *—kdh702*
14chicken-fried
*The Kentucky Fried Movie* -------------------------- [*The Kentucky Fried Movie*](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076257/). By far the best. *—Brosiden*
15children-shouldnt
Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things ---------------------------------------- My fave is a little classic called Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things, which exploits, uh, dead things. *—jayfr* I'm surprised Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things didn't make the cut. *—Lundok*

17coffy
Coffy ----- Coffy is my favorite. "The baddest one-chick hit-squad that ever hit town!" *—dude2334* You can never go wrong with Coffy with Pam Grier. *—bmeaker*

19faster-pussycat
Faster, Pussycat Kill! Kill! ---------------------------- Faster, Pussycat Kill! Kill! Really, anything made by Russ Meyer *—d8ufwg65* Russ Meyer's 1965 classic *Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!* Hard to find and expensive, but so worth it. *—siemens*
20deathbed
Death Bed: The Bed That Eats ---------------------------- I like [Patton Oswalt's take](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01l1WIC9mBo) on Death Bed: The Bed That Eats people. *—alphanumeric1971*
21dolemite
Dolemite -------- My favorite exploitation film is (the sadly passed) Rudy Ray Moore's [Dolemite](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolemite). It has it all: baffling coarse dialogue, high-school-play-level acting, boom mikes falling into the shot, kung-fu hookers and some ridiculous-looking clothes. And it has Moore, who was infinitely watchable. *—Doug\_Tilley* "I'm so bad, I kick my own ass twice a day" — Dolemite (R.I.P.). *—Ripped\_Glutes* There's so many but I have to go with Dolemite. *—stoner22*

*Eraserhead* ------------ *Eraserhead*. Disturbing to the max. *—blmills*
24eraserhead
*Eraserhead* ------------ *Eraserhead*. Disturbing to the max. *—blmills*
25glory-stompers
The Glory Stompers ------------------ My favorite exploitation flicks are the biker movies that followed in the wake of *The Wild Angels*, especially *The Glory Stompers* with Dennis Hopper and *Devil's Angels* with John Cassavetes. The former has priceless dialogue, delivered with relish by the perpetually stoned Hopper (a great drinking game can be played by downing a beer every time Dennis says "Man," but this may result in a coma after the first 20 minutes); the latter has Cassavetes oozing laconic charm, slumming while picking up a paycheck to help finance *[Faces](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faces_%28film%29)*, and also features the lovely and talented Mimsy Farmer. *—MalThursday*

27evil-dead
Evil Dead --------- We should include Evil Dead in this category, lots of fake blood, etc. Classic! *—mstrohb*
28night-living-dead
Night of the Living Dead ------------------------ Watched it first in the early '70s on channel 44 in the Chicago area. They were running a Halloween fright night, some cheapy rubber-suited monster flick, some other '50s one and then followed by *[Night of the Living Dead](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_of_the_Living_Dead)* — finally something to give me the creeps. *—smd* Night of the Living Dead is my pick. It is a landmark and a genre reference. *—hattorihanzo* I have to go with George Romero's Night of the Living Dead, still gives me chills! *—Tina12312* Night of the Living Dead! Easily my favorite horror film, complete with many staples of exploitation cinema. *—vadermccandless42* *Night of the Living Dead*. I love it. It still creeps me out when I watch it. *—ByteChanger* My favorite is Night of the Living Dead, one of the best horror/terror films of all time. *—brycelynch*
29mod-explosion
*Mod Fuck Explosion* -------------------- *[Mod Fuck Explosion](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107587/)* is *West Side Story* meets *A Clockwork Orange*. *—cyberbully*
30one-eye
Thriller: They Call Her One Eye ------------------------------- Loved your selections, but can't believe you left out [Thriller: They Call Her One-Eye](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thriller_–_A_Cruel_Picture), which inspired \[Quentin Tarantino\] when he did Kill Bill. The one-eyed girl cuts a path of destruction and killing off her enemies, all in colorful, bloody, slow-mo! *—domino1003*
31race-devil
Race With the Devil ------------------- Race With the Devil scared the hell out of me when I was 9. *—Draggam01*
32possession
Possession ---------- Zulawski's Possession (1981), with Sam Neill and Isabel Adjani, a great cross between an art film and drive-in fodder. Sam and Issy talk to themselves/psychotically yell at each other bug-eyed, people literally roll across the walls (for no apparent reason) as they babble inanities, Adjani has an eye-poppingly hysterical, disgusting moment where she aborts her creature-lover's baby in the subway, Sam circles her wide-eyed as she makes love to said large, bloody, Carlo Rambaldi-created creature, etc., and with an ending that would baffle David Lynch — now that's entertainment! *—krisg*
33texas-chainsaw-2
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre ---------------------------- I saw [The Texas Chain Saw Massacre](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Texas_Chain_Saw_Massacre) alone, by myself, in a dark room at my aunt's house in California on vacation when I was 10 years old. It was the first and one of the few times that I was genuinely scared by a movie, and it has to be my favorite exploitation film. *—Bawls\_McKraken* Mine is Texas Chainsaw Massacre by far. *—mizztara71* Loved *The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Black Dynamite, The Last House on the Left, Night of the Living Dead*. Netflix-ing the rest! *—wbrown* *Texas Chainsaw Massacre* was a great film that still terrifies me to this day! *—jthornto*

35assault-on-precinct-13-660
Assault on Precinct 13 ---------------------- Also gotta give a boost to John Carpenter's original [Assault on Precinct 13](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assault_on_Precinct_13_(1976_film)). *—fairportfan*
36riki
Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky ---------------------------- While in college, my friends and I stumbled upon Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky. At first we thought it was not real, but seeing is believing. After watching Machete this weekend, I thought it may be the goriest movie I had seen. Then a friend reminded me of *Riki-Oh*. Choking someone with his own intestines, exploding torsos and crushing someone's head with his fists, *Riki-Oh* has them all (and then some). Definitely a low-budget masterpiece that will have you laughing and cringing until the end credits roll. *—JudasPato*
37school-ot-holy-beast
School of the Holy Beast ------------------------ You guys didn't even name *one* "nunsploitation" film! Both the Italian and Japanese ones are great, but School of the Holy Beast gets my vote. *—sloucho84*

39i-spit
I Spit on Your Grave -------------------- I was really surprised by how good this 1977 movie was. The writing, and the performances of the lead actress and lead actor (the alpha male of the local boys), were really, really good! And the dialogue, for the most part, came off extremely natural. The weakest part of the film was the clichéd depiction of the "simple" character. But even then, he was very believable as someone very torn over the happenings in the film. I just wish there had been a short scene showing how big of a *Gilligan's Island* fan he was. LOL! I think *I Spit on Your Grave*'s reputation as a "violent exploitation flick" has undermined how good it is as just a film. *—beautypersoni* [I Spit on Your Grave](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Spit_on_Your_Grave) always holds a special place in my heart ... and loins. *—NighIsNow* I have to go with *I Spit on Your Grave.* That movie is horrifying *—dwdjohnson*

41sex-zen
Sex & Zen --------- Too many to choose from! But if I have to give a shout out to just one, let's pick something no one else has mentioned. Let's go Sex & Zen — soon to be outdone, I hope, by the new 3-D one. Or don't Hong Kong movies count? Or is that just porn? *—abbyb*

43slumber-party
The Slumber Party Massacre -------------------------- Slumber Party Massacre was one of the first horror films I ever watched! *—trippyjanet* I've got to see *[The Slumber Party Massacre](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Slumber_Party_Massacre)*! The cover of the box always intrigued me as a child and now Netflix doesn't carry it. What's that killer going to do with that crazy, long drill? *—spanky\_cermak*
44wild-angels
The Wild Angels --------------- What is a list of essential exploitation films without the great Roger Corman? *Bucket of Blood* or *[The Wild Angels](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wild_Angels)* are fantastic films from the master of exploitation films. Also, what about the great Jack Hill? His films *Spider Baby* and *Pit Stop* are brilliant! *—mmagbee*
45surf-nazis
Surf Nazis Must Die ------------------- So many horrible movies to choose from! Surf Nazis Must Die! Post-apocalyptic surfing Nazis killing for the perfect wave, and then being hunted down by a vengeful grandmother. Worth every second of horrid acting and cheesy stunts. *—samagon*
46the-hidden-2
The Hidden ---------- [The Hidden](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hidden)! Amazing action. Crazy car chases. Hot alien strippers. Great music by IRS. Stands up to many repeated viewings. *—evilfarmchild* The Hidden has always been a favorite of mine. *—RWincott* *The Hidden* was a great snapshot of the '80s! *—hemlloyd* *The Hidden* was an outrageously good sleeper flick! *—theRIKM* I have to vote for the gore of *The Hidden*. I\*t is so out there — just love it. *—radcliffdebi* My vote has to go to The Hidden. My friends and I even retitled it as *Rock & Roll Alien*, with the tagline: "It came from another world to listen to heavy metal and kill people!" *—r37*
