    The aesthetic was inspired by Impressionist paintings. "If you think about an oil painting that is still wet, and how can move around the color on the canvas, that's kind of the feeling we want to have," says Marek Plichta, one of the game's designers. "It's abstract enough that you can see your own world in there."

    Not only is the game world procedurally generated, but the critters are governed by algorithms, too. In one player's game world, for example, the fox might be a predator. In another's, he could be an ally.
