Gallery: The Things We Loved This Week
01TiVO Roamio Plus and Roamio Pro
Like sands through the hourglass, the weeks progress. And they seem to get better as they go. TiVo Roamio Plus and Roamio Pro ------------------------------- Your dad wants to watch the Niners. Your mom wants to watch *Eight Is Enough*. Your sister wants to watch *Seven Brides for Seven Brothers*. Your twin brothers can't decide between *The Sixth Sense* and *Fast Five*. And ironically, your siamese twin wants to watch an independent movie. [These new TiVos](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/gadgetlab/2013/08/tivo-roamio/) won't let everyone watch what they want simultaneously, but they can record six shows at the same time. Up to 450 hours of storage and built-in Wi-Fi streaming [sweeten the deal](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/gadgetlab/2013/08/is-the-tivo-roamio-worth-it/). *Image courtesy TiVo.*
023D Robotics 3DR Iris
3D Robotics 3DR Iris -------------------- We've seen plenty of remote-control flying machines throughout the ages. So what makes a drone a drone? Is it the ability to follow pre-drawn flight plans? An auto-pilot mode? The willingness to happily tag alongside you like a flying corgi in "Follow Me" mode? Sure, those things are a good start. The [3DR Iris](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/gadgetlab/2013/08/a-new-quadcopter-for-the-novice-drone-pilot/) does them all. *Image courtesy 3D Robotics.*
03Boya Lamp
Boya Lamp --------- Gaze upon the [Boya Lamp](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/gadgetlab/2013/08/boya-lamp-gives-vintage-bulbs-bottle-service/) and ponder the influence of Lewis H. Latimer, of Adolphe Chaillet, of Humphry Davy. Allow its warm glow to illuminate the leaves of thine almanack, thine *Fangoria*, thine *Tiger Beat*. Does the Boya Lamp not harken back to your days as a seafaring scamp, the tall ships about the wharf, the buoys bobbing betwixt the galleons? Does it not? Gaze upon it, lo! *Image courtesy Environment Furniture.*
04Fujifilm Instax Mini 90
Fujifilm Instax Mini 90 ----------------------- Without instant-film cameras, previous generations would never have known the instant-gratification wonders of digital cameras, smartphones, and Instagram. Polaroids were practically the only way to see your images without waiting a few days for the film to be developed or doing it yourself. Instant cameras are still a ton of fun, and [Fujifilm's new Instax Mini 90](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/gadgetlab/2013/08/df-fujifilm-instax-90/) has a classic aesthetic that looks better than the bulbous design of previous models. *Image courtesy instax.jp*
05Clean Your Keyboard
A Keyboard That Isn’t a Tetanus Hazard -------------------------------------- If you use your laptop long enough without cleaning it, it will start doing menial tasks by itself. Years of lunch detritus, finger peelings, and unguarded sneezes on the keyboard will fuse together to form a sentient typing organism. This organism will run up your bills by ordering stuff online that you don't need. Stay calm and don't throw your keyboard in the laundry. Read Kif Leswing's guide on how to [clean your laptop keyboard the right way](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/gadgetlab/2013/08/clean-your-laptop-keyboard/) with melamine foam. *Photo: Alex Washburn/WIRED*
06Handpresso
Handpresso ---------- Everybody's in some sort of rush in the morning. Gotta eat that Eggo, drink some delicious espresso, wash that face, brush the teeth, curl the hair, put some shoes on, take the shoes off because you forgot to put on pants and socks first, put all those things back on, weave through traffic, and get to work before Clemmon's daily morning status call. Now you can at least save that delicious espresso for your morning traffic jam with the glorious 12V-powered [Handpresso machine](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/gadgetlab/2013/08/handpresso-solves-your-in-car-caffeine-needs/). Fits right in the cup holder. *Image courtesy Handpresso.*
07APL Concept 3
APL Concept 3 ------------- I don't need these shoes because I can already jump super-high. But [Athletic Propulsion Labs' Concept 3s](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/reviews/2013/08/getting-vertical/) were banned by the NBA because they are ugly have hop-enhancing mechanics embedded in their soles. They can add 3.5 inches to your vertical, claims the company, and Robert Capps vouches for the shoes' jump-improving capabilities in his full review. Sounds like they'd be pretty useful for someone who can't already dunk bowling balls with their feet, like I can. *Photo: Ariel Zambelich/WIRED*
08Lamy 2000 Mechanical Pencil
Lamy 2000 Mechanical Pencil --------------------------- Sixty-nine bucks is a whole lot of money to pay for a mechanical pencil. So it's a good thing that the beautifully made [Lamy 2000](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/reviews/2013/08/pencils/?pid=3591) is the best of the best. Alexandra Chang tested [seven mechanical pencils (and one snake)](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/reviews/2013/08/pencils) head-to-head, and the Lamy 2000's elegant aesthetics, premium materials, and comfortable grip make it the high-end pencil to beat. *Photo: Alex Washburn/WIRED*
09Smartyphone Jones
Paying Attention While You Cross the Damn Street ------------------------------------------------ Seriously, take a five-second break from Twittering and MyFacing and playing Snake to [just cross the street](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/gadgetlab/2013/08/tnhyut-street-distraction/) without any distractions. *Photo: Ariel Zambelich/WIRED*
