NEW YORK — Stuffed with new interactive displays and some rare bits of videogaming history, Nintendo's flagship Rockefeller Center store reopened Monday after an extensive upgrade. The Nintendo World Store's three-week makeover added new Nintendo DSi stations, some sharp new lighting and an expanded museum area on the second floor, something of a shrine to all things Nintendo. The decor is sleek and stylish, with silhouettes of the company's iconic videogame characters framing the walls and adorable plush toys lining every aisle. On Nov. 7, the store will host a "Mario party" to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. Check these pictures to see the store's new look.

British tourists Samantha Luxton, 22, and Matt Francis, 28, enjoy the store's new interactive Nintendo DSi stands. This part of the playable DS area no longer contains seating, which might seem like a pain until you realize that you won't have to wait as long to try the games. If you're a parent who liked to sit and watch your kid run around the store, this is your punishment for hogging all the seats.

Christopher Hunter, 19, poses with the giant Mario figure that serves as the centerpiece for the second floor display. A huge Nintendo fan, Hunter came to the store wearing his [Pokéwalker](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pokéwalker), a device that allows him to collect Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver experience points for every step he takes. Sometimes he runs around in circles before fighting a boss. (No, not really.)

Makeda Bunsie, 33, peruses the second floor's array of glass showcases. The display contains a wide variety of items, from old-school Nintendo systems to *really* old-school Nintendo playing cards. Customers can also look at collectible, limited-edition versions of the DS and Game Boy.

This Game Boy survived the Gulf War. It was mangled and scorched in a barracks bombing, yet it still works. How is it that a Game Boy can still work after getting bombed but my laptop stops turning on when I spill water on the keyboard?

On the store's second floor, customers can select from a number of Nintendo plush toys and action figures. As you might expect, there are always *plenty* of [Waluigi dolls](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waluigi) still in stock.

Among the large array of Nintendo-themed clothing, Alejandro Lema hunts down the perfect souvenir sweatshirt. Lema, 36, was born in Brazil but recently moved to Spain. He toted an entire bag full of merchandise. He said he's been playing Nintendo systems ever since the original and currently owns both a Wii and a DS.

Kevin Thompson, 20, slams through some hoops in NBA Jam. Playing as the Denver Nuggets, he completely massacres the Minnesota Timberwolves, which strikes me as unfair, because the Timberwolves suck. It's like stealing candy from a Baby Mario.
