*Omi's interest in the Rohingya people started with a 2009 visit to Kutupalong, a refugee camp on the Bangladesh-Myanmar border. In 1991, when state-sponsored persecution of minorities turned violent, 250,000 Rohingyas fled Myanmar into neighboring Bangladesh. Tens of thousands of stateless Rohingya refugees live in limbo and in poverty. Many have chosen to resettle abroad. This group sits near the city hall in Bradford, England.
