    HTM is responsible for some of Nike’s most technologically interesting and luxurious shoes. Converse has historically been neither. That's what the All Star Modern HTM is for.

    The new line is infused with Nike technology: the knit uppers feature Hyperfuse, Nike’s own three-layer composite of materials that get fused with heat and pressure, not cutting and sewing, and pieces of thermoplastic polyurethane and neoprene. The Hi silhouette costs $140.

    On the HTM shoe, which comes in just black or white, there’s also a layer of goat leather on the upper. They run $180 a pair.

    The All Star Moderns, and the HTM editions, especially, play into today’s hyper-minimal high-top sneaker trend. Brands like Common Projects, on the high end, and Veja, Greats, and Adidas’s Stan Smiths on the lower end, fill that market now.
