Google01Blocks is a new, free VR app from Google designed to make it easy for people to make a 3D objects quickly by manipulating a small number of geometric shapes. Every object in this scene was created and arranged in Blocks.
Google02There are no curved surfaces in Blocks. The results in every design---even intricate ones---having the same low-poly aesthetic. Look closely at the spherical yellow lure projecting from the head of this anglerfish, and you'll see it's actually shaped like a multifaceted disco ball.
Google03A lower polygon count means 3D objects created in Blocks, like this scooter, can render not only on powerful VR headsets like Vive and Rift, but cheaper, phone-enabled rigs like Google’s Daydream View or Samsung’s Gear VR.

Google08The app becomes significantly more powerful when you start modifying shapes. These intricate mechas were both created in Blocks. The smaller of the two was created by rearranging and reshaping components of the 3D scooter that appears earlier in this gallery.
