Gallery: Gift Guide: 13 Watches to Suit Every Style and Budget
Luminox01watches-1
For The Adventure Traveler. [Luminox Navy Seal XS3001](https://www.luminox.com/watch-collection/sea/original-navy-seal-3000-series/xs-3001.html), $375 ($170 on Amazon). From bad weather to a bad neighborhood, it's not always the best idea to whip out your thousand-dollar pocket-computer to tell the time. Developed for the Navy SEALS, this unassuming watch is tougher than you are, and its tritium-illuminated hands and hour markers glow like neon fire for 25 years of long dark missions.
FP Journe02watches-2
For The Awesomest Person Ever. [FP Journe Chronometre Souvereign](http://www.fpjourne.com/eu/collections/en/souveraine/chronometre-optimum-1.html) (Red Gold, 40mm), $31,150. Though not the flashiest brand, anything from F.P. Journe is special. And expensive. The tiny, Geneva Switzerland-based watchmaker produces fewer than 900 handmade pieces a year. At more than $30,000, this is one of the less expensive models; the movement and dial are both solid gold.
Tag Heuer03watches-3
For The Well-Heeled Smartwatch Iconoclast. [Tag Heuer Connected Watch](http://www.tagheuerconnected.com/), $1,500. Want to attract attention at the Smartwatch meetup? Strap this Android Wear behemoth to your wing. The titanium case is 46mm wide, and houses a transflective display that uses available light to brighten its pixels. And every bit of that large, round screen works, thanks to clever placement of some electronics under the top of the watch's band.
Apple04watches-4
For Someone Who Wants an Apple Watch. [Apple Watch Sport Black/Black 42mm](http://www.apple.com/shop/buy-watch/apple-watch-sport/42mm-space-gray-aluminum-case-black-sport-band?product=MJ3T2LL/A&step=detail#), $399. Sometimes you just gotta run with the pack, and the Apple Watch really is one of the best connected timepieces. Skip the spendy steel and gold models, and go with the murdered-out Space Grey and black combo.
Swatch05watches-5
For the Free Spirit. [Swatch Street Energy Ciao Tutti](http://www.swatch.com/en/watches/suob120-ciao-tutti), $70. Who cares what time it is? Sometimes you just need a reason to smile. How can you not split a grin when the minute hand lines up with the 'O' at 3 o'clock.
Casio06watches-6
For the Valley Chic. [Casio CA53 Calculator Watch](http://www.amazon.com/Casio-Mens-CA53W-Calculator-Watch/dp/B000GB1R7S), $14.50. Maybe the chest-length beard and hoodie don't quite scream CODE LIFE loud enough. This watch does, and as an arithmetical bonus, it lets its wearer perfectly divide that split check down to the Venmo'd cent.
Citizen07watches-7
For the Person Who's Always on Time. [Citizen Eco Drive Satellite Wave F900](http://www.citizenwatch.com/en-us/watches/watch-detail/?model=CC9005-58E), $2,400. When punctuality is priority one, reach for this solar-powered titanium timekeeper. It talks to GPS satellites to get the most accurate time anywhere on the planet.
Breguet08watches-8
For the Mega Mega Watch Nerd. [Breguet Tourbillon Extra-Plat 5377](http://www.breguet.com/en/timepieces/classique-complications/5377), $160,000 CHF. A tourbillion is a little rotating cage inside a mechanical watch movement that houses the components most directly responsible for meting out power. It keeps these parts largely safe from the accuracy-crushing effects of gravity. Super watch-nerd stuff, developed by the Elvis of the watch world, Abraham Louis Breguet, in 1795. Breguet's eponymous company is still ticking; this watch is one of their most exciting pieces, and features one of ALB's greatest innovations. Though its primary feature (the tourbillion, duh) is 200-plus years old, this piece is thoroughly modern: the movement is only 3mm thick, and makes ample use of a material Breguet never lived to see used: silicon.
IWC09watches-9
For the Marine Mammal. [IWC Aquatimer Automatic 3290](http://www.iwc.com/en/collection/aquatimer/IW3290/), $5,750. There are diving watches meant to look cool, and then there are ones meant to go deep underwater. This is the latter, good down to 300 meters, with a simple dial that's meant to be easily readable underwater, and a chunky bezel that's easy to grip even with wetsuit gloves on.
Omega10watches-10
For the Gentleman Spy. [Omega Seamaster 300 Master Coaxial](http://www.omegawatches.com/watches/seamaster/seamaster-300/seamaster-300/), $6,600. In the *Spectre*, this watch is a bomb. In real life, this watch is the bomb: chic and simple, and every bit as elegant as the secret agent who wears it. For extra badass points, ditch the metal bracelet for a black Nylon NATO strap.
Georg Jensen11watches-11
For the Minimalist. [Georg Jensen Koppel Grande Date Annual Calendar](http://www.georgjensen.com/en-us/watches/automatic/koppel-grande-date-annual-calendar-41-mm-automatic-mechanical%C2%A0_3575569), $5,950. Those Dieter Rams Braun watches are a sweet and all, but every CAD jockey in a black turtleneck seems to have one. To really flaunt your design bona fides, opt for the expression of a lesser-known but still legendary look: Danish brand Georg Jensen, famous for its art deco and minimalist stylings. This watch has been around since 1978, but still looks fresh, with its stark white face and huge central date window.
Autodromo12watches-12
For the Car Fiend. [Autodromo Veloce PVD](http://www.autodromo.com/watches/veloce-pvd-black/), $375. You know that person who walks by you humming the sound of an engine revving, working an imaginary steering wheel? This watch is for them. Styled after a 1960s sports car tachometer, with hands that look like gauge needles, it's like a little strip of the Autobahn you can take with you everywhere.
Withings13watches-13
For the Secret Fitness Fanatic. [Withings Activité Pop](http://www.withings.com/us/en/store/details/activite-pop?gclid=Cj0KEQiA4LCyBRCY0N7Oy-mSgNIBEiQAyg39tuHSxoOxnOnqGmnYi6GluT-Gqan6MZck0fJgDNuNvXcaAspo8P8HAQ), $150. Not everyone who likes to stay fit wants to broadcast their healthy intentions with a silicone cuff that constantly displays their vital signs. The Withings Activité Pop tracks your steps, swims, calories burned, and hours slept. The simple subordinate dial on the watch's face measures your progress toward the daily step goal you define in the excellent Withings Health app. Unlike most wrist-computers, there's no nightly charging routine—the battery lasts a full eight months.
