Weta Righteous Bison Raygun --------------------------- When Peter Jackson's visual effects wizards aren't creating alternate universes for *Tintin* or *The Hobbit* movies, they make like Santa's little helpers and design toys. Leading the charge for the New Zealand outfit's [holiday offerings](http://www.wetanz.com/the-weta-christmas-gift-guide-201/) are the Dr. Grordbort [steampunk raygun series](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/culture/design/multimedia/2007/05/ff_weta) designed by Greg Broadmore. The fake firearms have [sold for up to $1,600](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/underwire/2010/07/weta-sci-fi-guns/). The hardcover tome, published by [Abrams Books](http://www.abramsbooks.com), includes 500 color images plus commentary from Lucas and his team. Retail price: $50. *—Hugh Hart*
04the-strain
*The Strain Trilogy* by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan ---------------------------------------------------------- This year the marked the end of Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan's [*Strain Trilogy*](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Strain). And even though its creators were sad to see it go — Del Toro told Wired.com last month that he would love to add more chapters but "[at some point you have to stop writing](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/underwire/2011/11/interview-guillermo-del-toro/)" — the story had to reach its natural end. The three-book tale (*The Strain, The Fall and The Night Eternal*) kicked off in 2009 with a vampiric virus that left the world on the edge of annihilation and in the midst of a nuclear winter. Then it followed the lives of the remaining few who sought to pry the world from the control of ancient vampire the Master. Did the survivors succeed? You won't find out until finishing the final installment — this fall's [*The Night Eternal*](http://www.amazon.com/Night-Eternal-Guillermo-Del-Toro/dp/0061558265). All three books in the series are here in this gift package (one of them is autographed). So, go ahead, sink your teeth in. Retail prices: $27 each. *—Angela Watercutter*
05fortress-of-solitude-limited-edition-poster
*Fortress of Solitude* Limited Edition Poster --------------------------------------------- Propelled by artist-remixed visions of *Star Wars*, *Jurassic Park* and other sci-fi movies, Texas-based boutique [Mondo](http://twitter.com/MondoNews) in November announced a partnership with DC Comics to produce art posters for the publisher's stable of superheroes. In the first installment, JC Richard pays frosty homage to Superman's secret headquarters. The limited-edition, 12-inch-by-32-inch print [*Fortress of Solitude* poster sold out at auction in November](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/underwire/2011/11/fortress-of-solitude-mond/), but Mondo held onto one copy for Wired.com to give away. (Retail price: $50.) Anything from [Mondo's online shop](http://www.mondotees.com/view_category.asp?cat=12 ) — movie posters, T-shirts or even a gift card for future bidding — would make an excellent gift for genre-flick freaks. *—Hugh Hart*
Li Fan06darth-vader-cufflinks
Darth Vader Cufflinks --------------------- Nothing says "I'm bad" like a pair of wicked Darth Vader cufflinks. To launch its new line of *Star Wars*-themed wristwear, [Cufflinks.com](http://www.cufflinks.com/star-wars.html) miniaturizes Vader's infamous helmeted head in the form of limited-edition jewelry featuring a black matte finish over base metal. (The company's other Lucasfilm-authorized designs include [Yoda](http://www.cufflinks.com/star-wars-yoda-head-cufflinks.html) and [R2-D2](http://www.cufflinks.com/star-wars-r2d2-cufflinks.html).) Retail price: $125. *—Hugh Hart*
07scorsese-on-scorsese
*Scorsese on Scorsese* Book --------------------------- Riveting 328-page hardcover [*Scorsese on Scorsese*](http://www.phaidon.com/store/cahiers-du-cinema/scorsese-on-scorsese-9782866427023/) packs a one-two punch by combining production stills from *Raging Bull*, *Goodfellas* and nearly two dozen other Martin Scorsese movies with commentary by the perfectionist filmmaker. "Shooting a film is never a pleasant experience for me," the director tells author Michael Henry Wilson during a discussion about *Taxi Driver*. "Sometimes ... there's a magical moment when something unexpected happens, and that's gratifying, but only for a few seconds. The torture starts again straight away." Movie geeks will love this book, published by Cahiers Du Cinema/Phaidon Press. Retail price: $49. *—Hugh Hart*
08smile-sessions-box
The Beach Boys' Smile Prize Pack, Signed by Brian Wilson -------------------------------------------------------- The Beach Boys' shelved Americana concept album [Smile](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smile_%28The_Beach_Boys_album%29) hovered in music geeks' minds like a Holy Grail for nearly 40 years. After 1966 masterwork [Pet Sounds](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pet_sounds), bandleader Brian Wilson couldn't negotiate the LSD comedowns, creative pressure and intra-band drama. The follow-up sat unfinished for decades until Wilson and collaborator Van Dyke Parks [rebooted Smile in 2004](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smile_%28Brian_Wilson_album%29). But music geeks are still gonzo for the original recordings, which were finally released as The Smile Sessions in November. We're bundling a Beach Boys prize pack consisting of the five-disc, two-LP [The Smile Sessions box set](http://www.amazon.com/Smile-Sessions-Box-Set/dp/B004RFYEEC), as well as a 2-CD Smile set signed by Wilson himself. Stuff those good vibrations into your stocking. Retail price: $140. *—Scott Thill*
