Apple iPhone 15 Pro Camera Samples

iPhone 15 Pro Max, 5X zoom with Night mode. This photo is slightly sharper than what I got out of the Google Pixel 7 Pro. There's still a fair amount of grain, but it picks up a lot of details and preserves exactly what I wanted in the shot. However, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra snapped a killer photo with its 10X optical zoom.

iPhone 15 Pro, ultrawide camera. I love this shot. I snapped photos with the ultrawide on the S23 Ultra and Pixel 7 Pro and they were all fairly identical, except the iPhone opted for slightly warmer tones.
iPhone 15 Pro Max, 2X Portrait mode. The blur outline is nearly perfect here, the details are sharp, and the colors are exceptionally accurate.
iPhone 15 Pro Max, main camera with Night mode. The iPhone 15 Pro Max delivers slightly better results than last year's iPhone 14 Pro. You can see the following photo to compare the two. I love the shadows and contrast in this shot, plus it's sharp.

- Photograph: Julian Chokkattu04iPhone 15 Pro Max, main camera with Night mode. The iPhone 15 Pro Max delivers slightly better results than last year's iPhone 14 Pro. You can see the following photo to compare the two. I love the shadows and contrast in this shot, plus it's sharp.
- Photograph: Julian Chokkattu05iPhone 14 Pro, main camera with Night mode. Last year's iPhone struggles a bit with the lens flare and is not *as* sharp as the latest, but it's very close.
- Photograph: Julian Chokkattu06iPhone 15 Pro Max, 5X Portrait mode. What's nice about the 5X zoom camera is you can use it in Portrait mode and get some really excellent detail with the blur effect. It's not perfect—the girl's face is grainy, but it still looks great.
- Photograph: Julian Chokkattu07iPhone 15 Pro Max, main camera with Night mode. Compare this photo with the following Pixel image. The iPhone does a solid job here, but I am not *as* sharp as in the Pixel photo. However, the iPhone did a better job with the scene's color temperature.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu08Google Pixel 7 Pro, main camera with Night mode. My face is not mired in shadow and I am sharper overall, but the Pixel corrects the white balance and color temperature a little too aggressively.
- Photograph: Julian Chokkattu09iPhone 15 Pro Max, 5X zoom. Compare this with the following photo. The iPhone photo is noticeably sharper than the Pixel photo, almost like putting on a pair of prescription glasses for the first time.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu10Google Pixel 7 Pro, 5X zoom. The Pixel still delivers a nice shot, but next to the iPhone picture, it is just a hair blurry.
- Photograph: Julian Chokkattu11iPhone 15 Pro Max, 5X zoom with Night mode. It's remarkable how sharp a photo you can get if you stay as still as possible. This shot is easily the sharpest compared to the images I captured with the Pixel 7 Pro and S23 Ultra at 5X zoom.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu12iPhone 15 Pro, 3X optical zoom. The iPhone seems to have struggled with the tint of the window I shot this photo through, which is why you see the weird hue. Still, it's a fairly sharp image. But compare it with the 10X zoom on the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu13Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, 10X zoom. At 10X, the Samsung image is sharper than the iPhone, and the Ultra usually can be found on sale for the same price. It has a 3X *and* 10X optical zoom camera, which would have been nice to see on an iPhone.- Photograph: Julian Chokkattu14iPhone 15 Pro Max, main camera Portrait mode. I've got three more photos of the same scene, so scroll through them to compare. The iPhone does a remarkable job here, however, my wife thought her skin tone was a tad too saturated. It's the sharpest photo of the lot though, thanks to the 24-MP resolution.
- Photograph: Julian Chokkattu15iPhone 14 Pro, main camera Portrait mode. Interestingly, the skin tone is a little more natural here.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu16Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, main camera Portrait mode. Samsung got the skin tone completely wrong and whitened it too much.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu17Google Pixel 7 Pro, main camera Portrait mode. The Pixel was my wife's favorite photo, with the most accurate skin tone, though it's not as sharp as the iPhone 15 Pro's photo.- Photograph: Julian Chokkattu18iPhone 15 Pro Max, main camera. This photo looks super identical to the following Pixel photo, however, thanks to the 24-MP resolution, you can pick up a lot more finer details if you zoom in. It's also a tad brighter, which I like.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu19Google Pixel 7 Pro, main camera. The Pixel's 12-MP photos just don't pack as much detail and sharpness as the iPhone photo. I also took the same photo with the S23 Ultra but it was so oversaturated.- Photograph: Julian Chokkattu20iPhone 15 Pro Max, selfie. The iPhone snaps selfies that are a good deal sharper than what you'll find on the Google Pixel 7 Pro.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu21Google Pixel 7 Pro, selfie. The details are smoothed out and the colors are a bit off compared to the iPhone photo.- Photograph: Julian Chokkattu22iPhone 15 Pro Max, 5X zoom. I love using the 5X zoom camera almost all the time.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu23iPhone 15 Pro, 3X zoom. If you get the smaller iPhone 15 Pro, you're stuck with 3X optical zoom, but this can still produce some nice results and you might prefer this focal length.- Photograph: Julian Chokkattu24iPhone 15 Pro, main camera 35 mm. Apple lets you cycle between 24 mm, 28 mm, and 35 mm (1X, 1.2X, and 1.5X zoom) and claims the results are better than digital zoom. It's hard to refute.
