Noah Shachtman is a contributing editor at WIRED and a contributing writer for The New York Times’ opinion section.

Shachtman previously served as editor in chief of Rolling Stone, where he led the storied outlet to a Polk Award and its first-ever Emmy nomination. A former nonresident fellow at the Brookings Institution, he also served as an executive editor for Foreign Policy and founded DefenseTech.org.

During his first stint at WIRED, Shachtman reported from Afghanistan, Iraq, Israel, Russia, and elsewhere around the globe.
