"Hi Bruce, (((yo!)))
"Back in 2009, I heard your Reboot 11 talk. You made a whole lot of
sense. My apartment was starting to feel like an overpriced
self-storage unit.
"I'm a service designer + web developer, so I tend to think of
solutions in terms of software that shapes default behaviour. I
wondered how to change the relationship between ourselves and our
possessions.
"A plan emerged: provide a near effortless a way to digitize objects,
and offer an interface to organize and share them that is both
empowering and enjoyable.
"We've just launched a product based on that plan: http://useitorlose.it
"It's a iPhone camera app with geo-tagging and instant uploading, and a
responsive, intuitive, full-screen, fancy-pants web app. Designed for
people who want to own fewer but better things.
"We want to make it as easy to lose things as it is to acquire them. So
next we are going to provide a 'graveyard' for your lost property and
allow the development of hyper-local marketplaces/libraries.
"This all feels like a sort of bottom-up, hacky Internet of Things. The
potential for which is a bit overwhelming. We're incredible excited
but our main focus is on continuing to improve the product and
incorporating feedback.
"Any ideas or suggestions would be fantastic, and thanks again for the
inspiration!"
Cheers,
Stuart

(((Well, you can't very well call that "design fiction.")))
