I just saw this start making the rounds of the geekier sites (I forget which of my RSS feeds I saw it on, but probably theonering.net), and I’m so there! Just like Star Trek New Voyages, a team of “amateur” filmmakers with a love for the source material has made their own Lord of the Rings movie, which will be a FREE download starting next Monday. The plot is one of the side stories to the main action in LOTR – the tale of when Aragorn went looking for Gollum to confirm Gandalf’s suspicions about Bilbo’s ring. I’m a sucker for all things Tolkien, and by the look of the trailer here, they’ve done a great, even incredible, job for the paltry 4-figures they’ve reportedly spent. Check out the trailer below, and see the movie website here.
