The verdict is out on the fate of Blu-ray, the high-definition DVD format.
On one hand, the disc makers have wildly optimistic expectations for the disc format could sell well for another decade. On the other hand, major industry players – notably including Samsung and Netflix – hint that it's a dud.

"I think [Blu-ray] has 5 years left, I certainly wouldn't give it 10," said Andy Griffiths, Samsung UK's consumer electronics director, told Pocket-lint, via Audioholics.
Griffiths thinks the format will have great sales this year, but it will ultimately be replaced by another format or technology.... (((we really need a little cigarette media-health warning sticker on packaging of this kind... "Wow look, I bought a classic movie! It'll last for years!" Yeah, sure, pal.)))
