It's one controversy down and one controversy to go for actress Elizabeth Banks.

She co-stars with Pineapple Express' Seth Rogen in the R-rated Zack and Miri Make a Porno, a slacker comedy about two friends who go into the adult film biz together.

Earlier this week, the flick (teaser embedded) got a reprieve from a kiss-of-death NC-17 rating after writer-director Kevin "Silent Bob" Smith appealed to the Motion Picture Association of America's review board.

The filmmaker trimmed two sex scenes involving Jason Mewes and Katie Morgan to snag the less-restrictive rating. Smith told AP: "We didn't set out to make an NC-17 film. That's just commercial suicide."

With that brouhaha behind her, Banks, who gained a cult following in the 2001 spoof Wet Hot American Summer and later co-starred in Seabiscuit, can now expect another firestorm: She appears in Oliver Stone's bio-pic about President George W. Bush, W., which is sure to raise a ruckus. The movie showcases Banks in a complete 180 from her Zack and Miri Make a Porno role: She plays Laura Bush.

Both movies will hit screens in late October.
