Dundee University student Scott Hobbs put together an updated version of the standard two-turntables-and-a-mixer DJ setup, replacing the turntables with touchscreen displays to give digital DJs a new way to mix music on the fly.
Rather than touching the records (DJ 1.0) or scratching vinyl-shaped objects in order to manipulate digital files (as with Final Scratch), the ATTIGO TT allows DJs to touch graphical representations (waveforms) of songs and samples themselves, affording a new level of control.
The device is currently in the working prototype stage, but according to PSFK, Hobbs is looking for a manufacturer to help put these things into mass production. In the meantime, peep the video below to see it works.
