IPhoneCam: Wireless Video Streaming From iPhone

Mac software developers Ecamm have managed to stream live video at 30fps from the iPhone’s camera. IPhoneCam is a native iPhone application which takes the output from the camera and sends it over WiFi to a Mac, where it is recognized by the team’s iChatUSBCam (which lets a Mac use any USB camera with iChat).

The Mac and the iPhone automatically see each other thanks to Bonjour, Apple’s zero configuration network protocol, so any iPhone can be used as a web cam. As you can see in the video, the quality is pretty high, thanks to the iPhone’s 2 megapixel camera. Ecamm, aka brothers Glen and Ken Aspelagh, will be demonstrating the applications at Macworld this week.
