With a face only a mother (or Ford design chief Peter Horbury) could love, Lincoln's MKT crossover concept arrives as kind of a "Learjet for the road" (Horbury's words, not ours). Like it or not, however, this plush four-seater may presage the successor to the Ford Edge-based MKX. Inside, things do exude a certain airy cosmopolitan glam that suits Ford's prestige brand quite nicely, with a quartet of artfully sculpted seats along a central spine and a really striking, steeply raked windshield-cum-glass roof. Probably the most appealing aspect of the MKT is its flex-fuel-capable EcoBoost engine. Displacing 3.5 liters, the twin-turbocharged, direct-injection V-6 spins out a pretty damned impressive 415 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, driving all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. Says Horbury: "The Lincoln MKT concept represents harmony in motion, balancing sculptured shapes and contours traditionally associated with beautiful cars on a crossover vehicle that offers the luxury of space and efficient, powerful performance."
