According to China's state-controlled Xinhua News agency, three different viruses were to blame for the recent rampage and as many as 118,000 computers crashed in a single day.

Earlier this year, President Hu Jintao launched a campaign to clean up the country's web pages in order to help build a “harmonious” society. Unfortunately, despite some successful round-ups, including catching the men behind the “joss-stick burning panda” virus, which infected over a million computers, the Chinese are still quite vulnerable.

China has more than 130 million internet users.
