Look, it's the $60 retail copy of the online-only PlayStation 3 battle game, Warhawk! I wonder what lies inside its package?
Well, I actually already know what's inside: the game, plus a Bluetooth headset manufactured by Jabra. That's why you're paying an extra $20 over the price of the downloadable version.
Pics of the unboxing, plus some quick information about what happens when you put the disc in your PlayStation 3, are below.
Above: so we've got the standard PS3 disc case, a mini-USB cable for charging the headset, the headset itself (in the pink bubble wrap), and a big yellow guide to using the headset, which doesn't actually cover how you are supposed to put the stupid thing on your ear, anyway.
The headset itself. The ear-strap thing is removable and adjustable.
As soon as Warhawk starts up, it immediately begins installing to your hard drive without even a hello. After this is done (only took a couple minutes), you have to reset the game. Then it works. You do run the game off the disc -- you don't install the entire thing to your hard drive.
There is of course no single-player game mode, but if you want to practice and learn the rules of the game in a risk-free environment, you do have the option of just starting up a local area network game with just yourself, then roam around on an empty map. In-game tutorial hints pop up when you get near interesting weapons and vehicles, so you can learn how to play with nobody shooting at you. If you want to engage a target, though, you'll have to actually jump in to an online match.
