Two real GUI applications have been released for the iPhone. This is no drag'n'drop operation – you'll still need some command line chops to get them onto the iPhone, but once they are there, they work just like everything else, launching with a touch of an icon.
The first is, ironically enough, a command line program, called Mobileterminal, and the second is a more eye-friendly voice recorder, put together by Erica Sadun from The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW).
Voice recording might be a nice feature (hey, hackers, what about some copy and paste?) but as Erica notes, gaining access to the microphone is a first step towards a VoIP application.
