Bbclogo Rumors were rampant this weekend about the BBC announcing a game development initiative at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival, but according to the broadcaster, it just ain't so.

Although The Scotsman reported that BBC Vision boss Simon Nelson would be discussing game development plans in his keynote on August 14th, a rep for the Beeb has said that's not quite accurate:

[T]he focus of his speech is on what the BBC can learn from the gaming industry (and vice versa). The presentation will not reveal a major move into the games industry and is in fact just reflective of the way in which various sectors of the entertainment industry are now converging and can learn from each others methods of working.
