The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass will arrive in America on October 1 with a special bonus gift, Nintendo said today.
The long-awaited Nintendo DS version of the best-selling adventure game series shipped in Japan last month to rave reviews, earning a 39/40 score in Japanese game mag Famitsu and the coveted "awesome" award from Game|Life.
Players who register the serial numbers from both the game and their DS Lite hardware on Nintendo's website will receive a stylus pen shaped like a quill feather, modeled after the item in the game that Link uses, Nintendo said.
Zelda is the first of its fall games to which Nintendo has given a specific release date. In May, Nintendo revealed release dates for games up through August, which will see the release of anticipated sequels Brain Age 2 and Metroid Prime 3 (which was delayed slightly this morning to August 27).
The fact that Nintendo is willing to let go a heavy hitter so early in the holiday season likely means that they have something even bigger in store for November. I'd expect some big DS shockers at E3.
