Sega, BioWare Team Up for <cite>Sonic</cite> RPG

Sega and BioWare are forming an unusual alliance to create a Sonic the Hedgehog RPG. No name for it yet, but it'll come out on the DS some time next year. Ray Muzyka, CEO of BioWare:

I actually blogged about my desire for a Sonic RPG ages ago. The Sonic name has been dragged back, forth, and then back again through the mud so often that the career of our favorite hedgehog is in dire need of a serious kickstart, and an RPG could be just the thing to do it. There are plenty of nifty characters in the Sonic universe (no, I don't mean Charmy Bee) and BioWare certainly has RPG chops to spare, so we could potentially (fingers crossed) end up with something as good as
Super Mario RPG. If we're lucky. And eat alllll our vegetables.
