* Playboy opened it's rabbit-shaped island yesterday. Playboy Island will "house" a virtual retail store (will you be able to buy Playmate Pamela Anderson's bobo's for your avatar?), host events, and will be the place to be to "meet" your fave playmates.
* The International Herald Tribune has an interesting article on Second Life storefronts from real retailers. 1-800-Flowers.com launched a shop in the virtual world last week and hired This Second Marketing to create avatars wearing the company's T-shirts that trolled popular areas of Second Life handing out virtual fliers about 1-800-Flowers.com in-game greenhouse. Reebock let residents design their own shoes both they and their avatars could wear. They're interesting ideas, but both companies and analysts aren't sure it's working.
