Microsoft has announced that it will be releasing Project Sylpheed, a 3D reimagining of the classic 2D scrolling shooter, Silpheed, for the 360 this summer. The Silpheed franchise already saw one upgrade via Silpheed: The Lost Planet for the PS2, which was done by shooter gods Treasure and Working Designs; Project Sylpheed is being done by Square Enix.
Not sure why they felt the need to change the spelling of the name, but heck, why not? Will the new have the classic feel of the old, or are they just counting on a nostalgia tie-in with the name? Guess we'll see.
