
It used to be that you'd have to slay a dragon or pull a sword from a stone to be made a knight, but these days, all you have to do is make wicked-good video games. Fable creator Peter Molyneux joins the ranks of Shigeru Miyamoto, Michel Ancel, and Frederick Raynal as the latest game developer to be knighted by the French Ministry of Culture in the Order of Arts and Letters.
The purpose of the Order is to recognize significant contributions to the arts or literature, which is as cool a reason to be knighted as I've ever heard. The downside, though, is that unlike English Knighthood, French knights don't get to add "Sir" to their name. Kind of a gyp, isn't it? Molyneux actually managed to not put his foot in his mouth for five minutes (hey, I love the guy, but he needs to learn when to hush) and said this about the honor:
