Big BrotherMeiya College of International Studies at Hunan University, Beijing, is the latest institution to humiliate it's members with technology. The traditional class register has been replaced by thumb scanners in every classroom, requiring student's to "Check in".

We know more than anybody how great technology can be. Wired is all about using it for a better future. But sometimes the extra convenience is not worth the increased feelings of oppression.
