Yahoo has released their new Web 2.0 style RSS mashup tool, called Pipes (see, the internet really is a series of tubes) It's pretty amazing to look at: drag around various boxes and hook them together with, well, pipes. The boxes rip data from around the web, from anywhere you choose (but there are already modules for Flickr and Yahoo of course) and process it, spitting out an RSS feed at the other end.
Why? Well, here's an example. Plug a Yahoo (not Google) search of restaurants in your area into Pipes, have it search feeds for reviews, query Flickr for photos, and send them all to you desk. Now you're the go to guy for where to eat in your neighborhood.
The site is getting hammered at the moment, due, no doubt, to all the excitement, but take a look. It's pretty easy, all drag and drop, and there's the obligatory Web 2.0 social side so you can "Share your Pipes", if that's your thing.
Happy plumbing!
