Anything but plastic. Wood is great, and stone is positively magical—if only for its impracticality—but aluminium is just fine. The promise of durability, of hard-edged and cold beauty, and the cachet of brushed metal design: it's like a Soviet engineer had one vodka too many, woke up in Cupertino and was mistaken for an elite European designer by the local computer company. Take Onkyo's Wavio Aluminium desktop, replete with 'board and wireless mouse. Though sullied, somewhat, but the wavy lines of the keyboard itself, it's made up for by the scarab-like contours of the metal mouse.
They also have a more squared-off design (pictured after the fold), but the effect is ruined by black plastic keys. Truth be told, nothing matches the uncompromising brutality of these steely imports.
After the PC HD from Onkyo, now the Onkyo keyboards! [Akihabara News]
