The Dallas Morning News brings us several interesting tidbits from GameStop's annual manager's conference, sort of a mini-E3 just for the folks who run GameStop and EB Games locations:
- Still no decision on when -- or even if -- GameStop will offer preorders for Wii and PS3, after the Xbox 360 debacle last year;
- GameStop said at the show that it would be the only retailer with playable Wii demo kiosks; and
- They'll break into the music player business this year by selling Microsoft's Zune.
Kind of weird news all around, if you ask me. Somehow I doubt that GameStop will be the only place people can try the Wii. Nintendo's going for brand new audiences -- why on Earth would the only demo opportunity be inside a sweaty den of nerd-dom? Makes zero sense whatsoever.
Ditto the Zune. Why bother? Sure, it'll use Xbox Marketplace Points for music purchase. Is there some other, stronger Xbox connection that we're not seeing yet?
