Game On

When it comes to most Olympic sports, the United States is the uncontested heavyweight. But the tables are turned in the Geography Olympics, where Madagascar and the Marshall Islands leave the world's superpower in the dust. "Geography is just a building block for understanding what's going on in the world," said Roger Andresen, who created the game. Players have 200 seconds to locate 10 randomly selected countries on a map of the world with the names blanked out. Over 300,000 players from 179 countries have played so far, with national rankings fluctuating throughout the day. Belgium and Italy consistently beat out the competition, whereas countries like Norway, Sweden, Cambodia -- and the United States -- have a lot of catching up to do.
