I just got my hands on one of the first copies of my Cult of Mac book and I'm thrilled with it. I would be expected to say this, of course, but truly, I'm surprised at how well it's turned out.
The designer, Derek Yee, has done an astonishing job laying it out. The graphics look absolutely fantastic. Derek is a Mac nut and it shows in spades. His work is a labor of love. He's turned it into a really nice book.
Some of Derek's great work can be seen in this sample chapter, Tales of Macworld (Warning: 3-Mbyte PDF), and here's the fabulous job he did of the cover. (The model is his roommate, who was persuaded to shave his head for a paltry $40, I believe).
Here's some details and the table of contents.
The book is hardback and runs to 376 glorious full-color pages. It should be in stores towards the end of next month. The cover price is $40, but it can be had for much less. Retailers are taking advance orders: Amazon.com; Barnes & Noble; Borders (teamed with Amazon.com).
