NYT Editors Quit

In the wake of the Jayson Blair fraud scandal, two top editors at The New York Times have resigned. Pulitzer Prize-winning executive editor Howell Raines and managing editor Gerald Boyd resigned Thursday. The paper's former executive editor, Joseph Lelyveld, will act as interim executive editor. Blair resigned May 1 after an investigation found fraud, plagiarisms and inaccuracies in many of his stories. Then on May 28, Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Rick Bragg resigned after the paper found that one of his stories was reported largely by a freelancer. The Times said it is reviewing its policies, including the use of unidentified sources and freelancers, and its hiring, byline and dateline practices.
