Shakespeare is back on the boards in Iran, where no Western theatrical production has been seen since 1977, and it's being taken as a tangible sign of thawing Persian-Western relations. A Winter's Tale, doctored so as not to offend the government's conservative sensibilities, has been playing before packed houses at Tehran's Vahdat Hall and everyone seems happy about it. Shakespeare's story of revenge and reconciliation is being performed by a Scottish theater company which is visiting Iran as part of the International Fajr Festival.
