US stocks rose solidly in late Thursday trading after several companies reported better-than-expected earnings. Computer-related stocks like Cisco Systems and Microsoft let the gains. The Dow surged 135.94 to 8104.72 and the Nasdaq rose 31.54 to 1572.51.
