Stocks soared as Wall Street reacted euphorically to a Commerce Department report that the economy unexpectedly picked up speed in the first quarter. The Nasdaq closed up 17.70 points at 1869.34, a 0.96 percent gain. The Dow gained 114.84 to close at 9066.36, a 1.28 percent increase.
