The Dow, after two record closes, plunged 15 to begin the day but began to recover by midmorning, and was down 4.48 at 8745.51. The Nasdaq began the day on a down note but was rallying with a gain of 4.69 at 1783.99. Asia: Fear that Tokyo's stimulus package won't cut taxes far enough sent the Nikkei down 2.22 percent. Hong Kong's Hang Seng dropped 1.19 percent. Europe: Britain gained 0.84 percent while profit-taking caused a dip in France (0.77) and Germany (0.55 percent).
