Kosovo Protest

Some 40,000 ethnic Albanian demonstrators took the streets in Pristina, protesting the Serbian crackdown in Kosovo. Police reportedly opened fire on protesters in the town of Pec, killing one. US diplomat Strobe Talbott, on his way to the province, called for a "constructive dialogue" between Belgrade and the Kosovo Albanians. He warned that Yugoslavia may face new sanctions if it does not "cease its brutal repressive campaign which involves ethnic cleansing, summary executions and mass expulsions."
