16 March 1968

Lawrence Colburn and Hugh Thompson, members of a helicopter crew that tried to stop the US Army massacre at My Lai 30 years ago today, visited the village to meet with those they had saved and those who saw as many as 504 of their relatives gunned down, bayonetted, or blown up. Neither Lt. William Calley, the only man convicted for the slaughter, nor any of his fellow war criminals showed up.
