The Interior secretary went before the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee to deny allegations that a decision to deny permission for a Wisconsin Indian casino was influenced by political donations. In 1995, tribes opposed to the Chippewa proposal gave more than US$350,000 to the Democratic Party after the casino plan was rejected. Attorney General Reno has until 11 February to decide if a special prosecutor should take up the case.
