Abortion Clinic Bombing

An off-duty police officer was killed and a nurse seriously injured in the bombing of a Birmingham, Alabama, abortion clinic. No one claimed responsibility for the bombing, though anti-abortion protesters were reportedly being questioned. Mindful of an abortion-clinic attack in Atlanta last year in which a second bomb ripped the building an hour after the initial blast, investigators searched the scene of this morning's explosion for a second device.
