The tidal wave of reaction to the Hong Kong free-fall continued to wash over Wall Street in afternoon trading, driving the Dow down as much as 217 points and the Nasdaq down 38. The bond market benefited from the share exchanges' woes, with sharp rises in US Treasury issues.
